Kiwi kids love animals and a farmyard themed birthday party is at the top of their wish list! Get ready to party till the cows come home with our amazingly affordable farmyard themed birthday party ideas!
How to Plan a Farmyard Themed Birthday Party
The key to a great kid’s birthday party is in the planning. Set the scene right from the start by sending out barnyard themed invites. Either design your own with some clipart or download some predesigned sheep or cow invites. Have fun coming up with phrases such as ‘Come to our hoedown on Saturday” or “Cock-a-doodle Two! James would love you to come to his 2nd birthday party.”
Once the invites have been sent out and you know the guest numbers, you can start organising the party food and drink. Where would a farm be without milk? Bring back the milk at your child’s birthday party with our hire range of glass milk bottles! For food options, how about matching farm themed party cupcakes? Decorating animal shaped biscuits makes a fun party activity and our dessert and sweet tables provide you with all the necessary decorating ingredients, except the icing!
It is important to have chosen a colour theme for the party, with red, yellow and brown being great farm party colours. These colours can be used when decorating the party venue as well as the partyware for the food. Our Farm Party Plates are great for younger children as they are decorated the friendly animals. Adults love the no mess, no dishes solution they offer too! Our red collection of partyware matches perfectly and offers you piece of mind in knowing that the party table and room will look fabulous and are unbreakable!
Easy DIY Farmyard Costumes
Help guests get into the spirit of the party by creating some easy DIY farmyard costumes. Large folded squares of fabric make perfect bandanas and once again you can incorporate the party colour here. Or you can get everyone involved by making their choice of:
- Tractor costume – paint a box and turn it into a tractor. Attach some shoulder straps and once the box is dry, you can mow the hay till your heart’s content!
- Egg carton pig snouts – all you need are some cut out pieces of egg cartons, pink paint and elastic. Paint the snouts, attach a piece of elastic big enough to go around the back of the child’s head and they’ll be as happy as a pig in mud!
- Chicken costumes – Grab some yellow or white sheets and cut a hole in the top for a head. On the child’s feet, pop on some yellow rubber gloves and you have an instant hen or rooster costume!
